The journey of becoming an international dance therapist

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Born and grew up in Taiwan, she is rooted her ground in her home town

  • Professionally trained both in Taiwan and United States

  • Currently working between Taiwan and New Zealand, with some international presentations

  • Move and base in Auckland, NZ since 2012

  • A true internationally involved dance/movement  therapist

  • Granted as a Ways of Seeing practitioner after two years of advanced training with NYC senior dance therapist and educator, Dr. Suzi Tortora, 2012-2014. 

  • An adventurous travelor in both her internal space, and outer in the world; Her foot prints cross to Japan, France, Germany, Spain, Nerthland, Sweden, Finland, Swissland, Norway, Canada, HongKong, USA, New Zealand, Australia, and China. 

         

       JungHsu Wan first encountered dance therapy in 1997 and was inspired by Dr. Tsung-Chin Lee. She was trained in Applied Psychology in Taipei, Taiwan. She then continue  her passion by traveling to US for her Master of Art degree in Creative Art Therapies program, majored in Dance/Movement Therapy in Drexel University, Philadelphia, in 2004-2016; After coming back home and worked for six years in Taipei, life brought her to a new land- New Zealand.  Since 2012, she worked with Anaia Treefoot for Dance Therapy NZ both as therapist and trainer. At the same time, she continue training herself by joining the advanced dance therapy training program lead by Dr. Suzi Tortora, and JungHsu is now a certified Ways of Seeing practitioner; Ever since she moved to NZ, she has been involved more internationally and colleberate with her colleagues around the world. Thus had oppertunities to co-presente at American Dance Therapy Association conference both in 2013 with Suzi and 2014 with Anaia Treefoot. She presented with international dance therapy colleagues in Australia Dance Therapy Association 2015 symposium, and is going to present in the 51th American Dance Therapy Association Annual Conference Oct. 2016 in D.C., USA. 

 

She dedicate herself to advocate dance/movement psychotherapy internationally, and of course in her beautiful home, Formosa, Taiwan.
